As one of the region\u2019s major Reggae-men, he brings to the stage an energetic show of original music for audiences from all over the world. Alum\u00ednio has brought musical joy to his people for 25 years, and today is a reference point for reggae music in Brazil. Likened in S\u00e3o Paulo to Gregory Isaac, Alum\u00ednio has had increasing success internationally at venues and festivals in Europe, filling England\u2019s No.1 live music and reggae venue, Hootananny Brixton, during London 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong>His latest CD<\/strong>, \u2018EU SOU O BARRO\u2019, (\u2018I am the earth\u2019), introduces brand new songs such as \u2018O C\u00e9u \u00e9 Alto\u2019 and recalls evergreen favourites; \u2018S.O.S. Amazonia\u2019 and \u2018Eva\u2019. The \u2018rastaman\u2019 brings messages of praise to Jah and to nature, with diverse rhythms from roots to dance, but always Nyambingh that pulses in the veins \u2013 this is genuine ROOTS ROCK REGGAE!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alum\u00ednio, <\/strong>born in Riach\u00e3o de Jacu\u00edpe, grew up among the samba &amp; reggae drums of Salvador\u2019s Pelourinho in Bahia, the heart of Brazil\u2019s music and rhythm. Influenced by the hypnotic power of Afro-Brazilian and Nyambingh rhythms, he developed as musician and singer-song-writer, inspired by his life experiences and spiritual connection. He became renowned through his regular events and activism in the Rocinha of Pelourinho. For over seven years, he drew in thousands of people every month from all regions and backgrounds, attracting national and international media, generating collaboration between artists and transforming the ghetto into an internationally recognised cultural hub. A reggae ambassador for social justice, the Rastaman brings a universal message of respect, love and praise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Likened in S\u00e3o Paulo to Gregory Isaac and Don Carlos<\/strong>, in 2007, Alum\u00ednio began his solo international career, and has since enjoyed increasingly recognised successes at venues and summer festivals across Britain, working alongside top musicians in the region. Recent Brazil highlights include Salvador Carnival, the world\u2019s biggest street party, and studio CDs include<strong> <em>Rocinha 22 de setembro<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Reggae for All Tribes<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>CAREER HIGHLIGHTS<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1992<\/strong> \u2013 founder, drummer and percussionist of reggae band <strong>Bem Aventurados<\/strong>, performing in Salvador and various cities around North East Brazil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1999<\/strong> \u2013 leads <strong>Cultura em Movimento<\/strong> in the <strong>Rocinha of Pelourinho<\/strong><em>, formalising social and cultural activities and building a stage and cultural space.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>2001<\/strong> &#8211; launches own band <strong>Carruagem de Fogo<\/strong> (Chariot of Fire) as singer\/songwriter, promoting regular Friday night events in the Rocinha of Pelourinho. His song lyrics are quoted in the UN\u2019s National Report on \u201cRights to Housing\u201d, presented to Brazil&#8217;s president, Lula.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2004<\/strong> \u2013 as an ambassador for social politics through reggae, Alum\u00ednio is elected as delegate for the 1st National Conference on Culture in Bras\u00edlia, with song recital in the Planalto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2007<\/strong> &#8211; begins his solo international career, performing at venues and festivals in Britain and working alongside top musicians in the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2011<\/strong> \u2013 releases his new CD <strong>\u201cReggae pra Todas as Tribos\/ Reggae for All Tribes\u201d<\/strong>.
