A beautiful introduction begins with bird song and running water, wafting us to the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Brazilian Portuguese really suits the reggae rhythms and the lyrics evoke a deep love of nature and Jah \u2013 one love.<\/p>\n There are elements of Gregory Isaacs and Misty in Roots, with Val Souza\u2019s haunting trumpet providing some glorious top notes over the hypnotic rhythms, however Alum\u00ednio\u2019s own voice is strong and spiritual and his personality and obviously genuine social conscience shines through.<\/p>\n The incessant reggae back beat produces at times an almost trance-like state of ecstasy; on the track \u2018Eva\u2019, the energetic momentum creates a joyous vibe reminiscent of Bob Marley\u2019s songs, while \u2018Uma Estrela\u2019 (A Star) shows Alum\u00ednio\u2019s voice at its full emotional range.
